Other than what can be seen visibly, some fixes have been made to the functionality of the operating system as well. This is discussed in detail further down the article. What’s new in Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 21327

Redesigned news and interests

The layout of the News and Interests flyout has been made more appealing to the user by making slight changes to it. The color tones as well as the likes and comments section have been revamped to make it feel more natural and less clustered. Upon clicking “See more news,” the design of the news that opens up in a web browser has also been altered to look more beautiful than before, as well as easier for the user to navigate through, and not get caught up in all the clutter.Source: Microsoft Microsoft has also incorporated emoji reactions to the news, such as like, love, anger, etc. However, not everyone in the Dev channel has received this update yet as it will be gradually rolled out to users in different regions over some time.

Other changes and improvements

Parts of the operating system that use the Segoe MDL2 assets, which includes the Start Menu and the Settings application, will now have a more subtle layout through redesigned icons that are more rounded and simpler. The default application will now be in x64 architecture as opposed to the previous x86 default architecture.

Fixes

As we mentioned at the beginning, Microsoft has also made a few other fixes to Windows 10 with this release. Here is what has been fixed:

An issue impacting the reliability of the Start Menu as well as other applications has been addressed.The problem of the wrong background color being displayed when a key was toggled on the touch keyboard while the mouse cursor or a pen hovered over it has been fixed. However, this fix is only being rolled out to a minority of insiders so any additional issues can be fixed before it is released to the majority.The cramping of text in some languages has been fixed in the clipboard history of “Paste as plain text.”An issue in the clipboard history where it would paste something different than what was selected has been fixed.An issue where the KANA input mode in the touch keyboard was not persisted on the next launch when using the Japanese 106/109 traditional keyboard layout has been taken care of.The problem with the emoji panel and the IME candidate window drawing partially offscreen has been addressed.Some applications throw a bugcheck with “IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL” when installing has been fixed.The occasional hanging of the login screen and DWM since a few recent flights has been fixed.An issue resulting in the thumbnails for apps in the taskbar being black on the primary screen when using 2 screens (HDR and SDR) has been addressed.A problem with the size of the window increasing or decreasing whilst changing displays has been taken care of.The occasional freezing of the PC while rotating it in tablet mode has been fixed.The problem resulting in lag while using the Xbox Game Bar on a 144Hz or higher display to record the gameplay has been addressed.The issue of users experiencing stutter when playing games while using multiple display devices has been fixed.An issue leading to erroneous notifications after each upgrade indicating new apps have been added to the Startup Apps section in Settings has been fixed.The problem with the upgrades getting stuck at 88% has been addressed.An issue resulting in errors when launching MSIX packaged desktop apps has been fixed.

Known issues

Here are the issues Microsoft is currently aware of in this new update:

Microsoft is aware that the update process hangs for extended times while attempting to install the new build.Live previews for pinned sites in the Taskbar have not yet been published for all insiders. Hence, users might see a blank or grey image when they hover their mouse over the Taskbar’s thumbnails.Microsoft is currently working on enabling a new taskbar experience for insiders. However, users can unpin the pinned sites from the taskbar, remove them from Microsoft Edge by going to the edge://apps page, and then re-pin the sites.News and interests:Often the news and interests window cannot be closed using a pen.News and Interests may not be available when signing into Windows with no internet connection. It does however return when the device comes online.Insiders using ARM64 architecture who had installed Qualcomm Adreno graphics driver on their Surface Pro X may experience lower brightness levels. Microsoft says that this issue has been resolved through a preview update for the graphics driver that you can download by clicking here.The Chinese text for the lunar calendar in the clock and calendar flyout might not display properly. Microsoft is currently working on a fix.Starting with the last flight (Build 21322), the status information is no longer being displayed under Settings -> Update and Security -> Windows update.Users may experience the device hanging when attempting to shut down, reboot, or put the computer in sleep mode while an Xbox controller is connected.Devices with Bitdefender installed may experience File Explorer crashing or a black screen after installing the build 21313 or higher. If you are experiencing this problem, Microsoft suggests that you pause the insider updates until the issue is fixed.Users on Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) will not be able to use the GPU Compute feature. Microsoft is working on a fix for the issue.Some devices with Realtek network adapters with the driver version 1.0.0.4 may experience frequent network disconnections, which Microsoft is working on fixing.The About page in the Settings app is not available after installing this build. Microsoft suggests running the systempropertiescomputername.exe in case you want to change the name of the computer for the time being, while they fix the issue.

How to install Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 21327

If you are subscribed to the Dev channel of the Windows Insider Program, then you shall automatically receive the new update through Windows Updates. However, if you are anxious to receive the update without waiting, here is what you can do. Open up Windows Updates by navigating to the following: Now, if the system does not automatically start searching for updates, click on Check for updates for a manual search online. The system will then start to download the latest update available and install it automatically once it is downloaded. Reboot the computer once installed. Since a standalone ISO image for this build has not been made available, updating your current version is the only way to install this build right now.

Rollback/remove Windows 10 Insider Preview update

If you do not wish to keep the installed preview update for some reason, you can always roll back to the previous build of the OS. However, this can only be performed within the next 10 days after installing the new update. To rollback after 10 days, you will need to apply this trick.
